Boutique law firm in Oakland, CA, is seeking a dedicated Litigation Paralegal to join their growing team on a contract-to-hire basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience across all phases of litigation, including discovery, e-filing in California state courts, preparing judicial forms, and using case management software such as Smokeball.

While experience in Unlawful Detainers is preferred, the firm is willing to train a candidate with solid litigation experience and a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide support in all phases of litigation, including case intake, discovery, pre-trial preparation, trial support, and post-trial activities.
• Manage unlawful detainer cases, including preparing eviction notices, handling landlord / tenant disputes, and filing motions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests, such as document demands, interrogatories, and subpoenas.
• Perform e-filing in California state courts, ensuring timely and accurate document submissions.
• Prepare and file judicial council forms related to unlawful detainer and real estate litigation.
• Utilize case management software, including Smokeball, to organize case files, track deadlines, and manage documentation.
• Assist attorneys in preparing trial binders, exhibits, pleadings, and other litigation materials.
• Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel regarding case status and deadlines.

Qualifications :

• 2+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal
• Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week in the Oakland office.
• Experience with discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests and document production.
• Familiarity with e-filing in California state courts.
• Ability to provide support in all phases of litigation, including trial preparation.
• Experience preparing judicial council forms.
• Proficiency with case management software such as Smokeball.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
