Global Public Policy Department

The mission of Vantage's Global Public Policy team is to help deliver the best possible digital infrastructure for the world's leading technology companies.

Global Public Policy is responsible for Vantage's government relations, economic development, and community engagement. The team partners with our New Site Development, Construction, Engineering, Legal, Tax, People, Operations, and other departments to grow market share, acquire and retain customers, navigate through regulatory and policy developments, mitigate risk, and expand into new geographies.

Position Overview

In this newly created role, the Senior Manager, Public Policy - Community Engagement will be primarily responsible for creating, managing and reporting on the company's community engagement program in North America, in close collaboration with the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) council.

The Senior Manager will partner with various internal team members to determine Vantage's community engagement priorities, build relationships with key stakeholders, and engage with constituents to develop programs and partnerships in communities that advance the company's core values (Trust, Accountability, Respect and Agility) and bolster our reputation as a good corporate citizen.

This role will be an integral part of driving forward end-to-end market success as Vantage grows in the region, carrying out our priorities for environment, social, and governance activities.

This includes supporting market entry through development and operation of our data centers. This role will also be responsible for helping to establish and maintain a pro-investment public policy climate to facilitate Vantage's growth.

This role can be based in any of these US locations : Denver, CO; Santa Clara, CA; or Ashburn, VA.

Essential Job Functions

Create and implement a strategic community engagement plan to drive forward business objectives at all levels of government in North America.

Research, identify and track current and emerging issues and trends around community engagement across North America; engage internal stakeholders to determine the company's position, priorities, and risks, and actions to take regarding community engagement.

Collaborate with the JEDI council to connect the community engagement objectives with the company's diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, encouraging use of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) hours and engaging with employees throughout North America.

Develop and implement a strategy to achieve community engagement objectives; engage with relevant federal, state, provincial, and local partners, especially third party and community organizations and decision-makers, to advance the company's public policy interests.

Collaborate closely with internal teams including Global Public Policy colleagues, New Site Development, Legal, Construction, Human Resources, JEDI, Marketing and Operations teams on key issues and workstreams, establishing a cadence of regular briefings.

Engage in pre-development processes, researching drivers of community sentiment in existing and new markets, understanding and pursuing opportunities for partnership with community organizations, and with other public policy activities and efforts as needed.

Lead relevant consultants, association memberships, and coalition partnerships.

Draft strategy and other public policy documents as needed; prepare decks and talking points for meetings, as well as briefings for executives and key internal partners.

Evaluate and make recommendations for Vantage's participation in community engagement programs and opportunities for Vantage, and develop evaluation methods for evaluating impact and success.

Attend select federal, state and local meetings to represent and speak on behalf of Vantage.

Participate in various chambers, associations and coalitions as a proponent of the data center industry as needed.

Partner with Marketing and other teams to develop messaging, positioning, collateral and public relations materials.

Promote Vantage's commitment to sustainability, diversity and inclusivity; engage in the community supporting Vantage's role as a good corporate citizen.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

5-7 years of hands-on experience in community engagement in North America. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in creating and managing a community engagement program for a large, capital-intensive public or private company.

Experience learning business needs and representing those interests before customers.

Demonstrated creative and critical thinking with the ability to understand sophisticated issues and identify clear and effective action plans to resolve them is desired.

Proven track record in obtaining successful outcomes in community engagement.

Strong written and verbal communication to internal and external audiences, including senior government officials and company executives.

A teammate who is comfortable working in a matrixed organization to drive forward business value creation is strongly preferred.

Experience managing consultants and excellent program management and reporting skills is desired.

Sophisticated political savvy and the ability to connect with customers from all backgrounds is desired.

Comfortable balancing multiple priorities with shifting timelines and objectives.

Significant travel is anticipated. Travel includes visits to other Vantage offices, capital cities, regional meetings, company and third-party events, hearings, etc.

Travel may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details

Salary Range : $120,000 - $130,000 Base + Bonus ( this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations )

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
