Supply Chain Director

Skills Alliance are working with a global leader in biotechnology research, a global life science tools company, providing mission-critical components and solutions into high-growth application areas across the human healthcare and applied market segments, their tools play a key role in customer workflows from discovery applications through to commercial manufacture and enable its customers to : bring new diagnostics and therapies to market;

progress research and development; optimize food production; and continuously monitor and enhance the quality of food, the environment and consumer products.

This role is critical in ensuring that our procurement and supply chain align with their strategic goals in their diagnostics division and support their mission of delivering high-quality biotechnology solutions.

Position Overview :

The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain will be responsible for leading and optimizing the procurement and supply chain functions within the organization.

This role requires a strong background in life sciences, particularly in biotechnology and diagnostics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex supply chains, developing supplier relationships, and driving cost efficiencies while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

• Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement and supply chain strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives and supports research and development initiatives.
• Supplier Management : Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality materials and services.

Negotiate contracts and terms to optimize costs and quality.

• Risk Management : Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Cost Management : Monitor and manage procurement budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements while maintaining quality standards.
• Inventory Management : Oversee inventory levels for raw materials and supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or excess.
• Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement and supply chain team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
• Reporting and Analysis : Prepare and present reports on procurement and supply chain performance, supplier performance, cost savings, and compliance metrics to senior management.

Qualifications :

Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a strong background in the life sciences industry;

experience in diagnostics is advantageous.

• Proven track record of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and cost management in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards in the life sciences sector.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite..
