Position Description :

LCG is seeking a Senior Data / Analytics Engineer SME who will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced data and analytics solutions.

This role requires a subject matter expert with deep experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, cloud architecture, and full-stack development to deliver scalable, innovative solutions.

The Senior Data / Analytics Engineer SME will play a crucial role in integrating data from various sources, building efficient data pipelines, and applying analytics to drive mission-critical decisions.

This position demands strategic thinking, technical leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to support the client in its data-driven modernization initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Strategic Data Architecture and Innovation

Lead the architecture and development of end-to-end data solutions, ensuring alignment with the USDA’s IT modernization objectives and long-term strategic goals.

Identify opportunities for innovation and create scalable, data-driven solutions that enhance the accessibility and reliability of client services.

Data Integration and Leadership

Design and implement secure, reliable, and scalable data pipelines across cloud platforms (primarily AWS), integrating complex datasets to support real-time analytics and decision-making.

Lead the development of advanced analytics capabilities, applying both traditional and modern techniques such as machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to provide actionable insights.

Full-Stack Development and Cloud Enablement

Oversee the full-stack development process, including back-end data services, front-end user interfaces, and database management, ensuring seamless integration of data across platforms.

Develop and deploy cloud-based solutions (AWS) that support data analytics, leveraging cloud-native technologies to optimize performance and scalability.

Data-Driven Innovation and Problem Solving

Apply advanced analytics, data visualization, and human-centered design principles to enhance the user experience and deliver solutions aligned with client's mission-critical objectives.

Drive innovation by staying informed of emerging data technologies, proposing forward-thinking solutions, and continuously improving data processes.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a trusted advisor to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively communicating complex data concepts and strategies.

Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of data and analytics initiatives with client's goals.

Agile Methodologies and Project Leadership

Lead data engineering projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.), ensuring timely delivery of data solutions while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Continuously engage in iterative development processes, providing feedback and making adjustments based on stakeholder needs and evolving requirements.

Security, Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure that all data solutions meet stringent security and privacy standards in compliance with federal regulations, including USDA governance frameworks.

Develop test plans, conduct rigorous testing, and implement quality assurance processes to guarantee that data solutions meet performance and security benchmarks.

Leadership in Innovation and Digital Enablement

Inspire teams to embrace digital transformation and foster an innovative culture within the organization, championing data-driven approaches to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Act as a change leader, guiding the organization through complex digital transformation journeys while managing resistance and ensuring successful adoption of new data technologies.

Requirements :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

A master’s degree is preferred.

Experience : 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, cloud architecture, and full-stack development, with a focus on delivering data-driven solutions.

Proficiency in AWS cloud services, including Redshift, S3, Lambda, Glue, and RDS.

Advanced knowledge of data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing techniques.

Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, SQL, Java, and Scala, as well as experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.

Familiarity with machine learning models, AI frameworks, and their application in predictive analytics.

Agile Methodologies : Extensive experience working in Agile environments and using Agile project management tools like Jira or Trello.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills : Expertise in data analysis, data-driven decision-making, and applying quantitative methods to solve complex problems.

Client-Centric Focus : Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Innovation & Leadership : Proven ability to lead teams in digital transformation efforts, fostering innovation and driving successful outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $157,600 to $190,300 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

The target salary is $173,300. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education / training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
