Responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of the hospital#39;s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment (such as chillers and towers) in keeping with their functional and satisfactory operating condition.
Responsible for refrigerant compliance. Ensures all work practices are in accordance with guidelines set by NFPA, BOCA, ASHRAE, and other regulating bodies.
1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
2. Maintains and repairs all equipment using refrigerants for heating / cooling, including cooling towers, auxiliary equipment, steam and controls systems.
3. Troubleshoots heating and cooling problems including AHUrsquo;s, fans, pumps, cooling towers, VFDrsquo;s and related equipment.
4. Installs new and / or replacement components and complete units including motors, belts, fans, thru walls, compressors, ice machines, valves, actuators, and other related equipment.
5. Welds, brazes and solders piping, valves and associated components.
6. Reads and works from blueprints, specifications, and ownerrsquo;s manuals.
7. Inspects and tests all HVAC related systems for reliability. Employs predictive technology such as vibrations and thermography for ongoing maintenance needs.
8. Performs other maintenance duties and functions as needed and as directed by the supervisor or lead.
Journeyman HVAC Technician (or equivalent). Understanding of electrical safety and lockout / tagout standards.
High School Diploma, Vocational School or equivalent required. Successful completion of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program from a certified technical school or training program.
Prior experience preferred. Philadelphia Class A licensed preferred for Philadelphia hospitals.
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
