Position Overview : We are currently seeking qualified candidates for multiple Maintenance Technician positions at our campus.

The Maintenance Technician roles (Level I and Level II) are vital for ensuring the smooth operation and safety of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities :

Level I : Early career, with opportunity for professional development and growth. Performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks, primarily in campus residential spaces.

  • Perform minor repairs to plumbing, light fixtures, exhaust fans, door hardware, windows, and screens.
  • Conduct minor carpentry work, such as repairing damaged drywall, cabinetry, or furniture.
  • Inspect housing units between occupancies.
  • Assist other maintenance workers as required.

Level II : Demonstrates EITHER specialized knowledge and skills within one discipline OR broad general knowledge and skill base across three or more disciplines (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and drywall, locksmith, etc.

Performs skilled maintenance and repair work.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Install building equipment and fixtures.
  • Maintain building equipment, fixtures, and systems.

General Responsibilities (All Levels) :

  • Carry and deploy ladders, work from elevated platforms, and rooftops.
  • Inspect worksite(s) for planned work's impact on the campus community and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Display a professional and positive attitude.
  • Work independently and strategically to efficiently manage workload.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation, responding to maintenance issues within different disciplines as needed. Remain available during off-hours and respond to campus within two hours when on-call.
  • Work during times of university closure due to inclement weather or emergency.

Requirements : 1. Education :

1. Education :

  • Level 1 : High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Level 2 : Graduation from a vocational technical school with journey level skills certification in area(s) of specialty, or equivalent experience.

2. Experience :

  • Level 1 : 1-2 years of successful work experience in maintenance or a related field.
  • Level 2 : 3 years of work experience with demonstrated journey level skills in one or more areas.

3. Licensure / Certification :

  • Valid Washington State Driver's license with good driving record.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain required certifications such as Asbestos Worker Certification, Backflow Assembly Tester certificate, etc.

4. Other Considerations :

  • Must be physically able to perform tasks such as wearing a tight-fitting half mask respirator and mold remediation, passing annual medical exam.
  • Ability to properly use hand tools and power equipment.
  • Must be able to drive a service vehicle and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to carry, deploy, climb and lift different size ladders.

Ability to work from ladders and elevated platforms.

  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders while carrying supplies or equipment. Must be able to access all areas of campus, including building roofs
  • Effective work habits including commitment to quality, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Education or training at the level to ensure ability to understand, speak, read, and write English.

Equipment Used :

  • Handheld tablet, handheld radio, service trucks, powered lifts, hand and power tools, ladders, voltage meter, carpentry power tools, and additional equipment specific to skill specialization.
