Certification Details
- Current Texas State RN License
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Oncology Clinical Nurse Certification (ONC™) (Chemo) or Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) preferred.
Job Details
- Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients.
- Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments.
- Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs.
- Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.
- The medical-surgical unit at Shoreline Hospital provides exceptional care for Ortho, Oncology, and Med / Surg patients.
- RNs care for patients with elective surgeries, fractures from the ER, and medical overflow.
- Inpatient Oncology department is the only acute inpatient unit in the region.
- Patients may have a new or existing cancer diagnosis and are treated with chemotherapy / hematology interventions when indicated or may be treating them for symptoms related to recently having chemotherapy.
- Focus is to create an environment that manages serious situations / conditions with the sensitivity needed to enhance and invoke physical and emotional healing reflective of CHRISTUS Spohn's Mission.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
- Two-years of Oncology nursing experience preferred.
