GENERAL FUNCTIONS
LOUi Consulting Group, Inc., in working with its partner, SenseAbilities, is seeking professional assistance with the fulfillment of its mission to support children and their families by providing lifelong knowledge and skills with enthusiasm, passion, and creativity in the Middle Georgia area.
Speech therapy focuses on receptive language, or the ability to understand words spoken to you, and expressive language, or the ability to use words to express yourself.
It also deals with the mechanics of producing words, such as articulation, pitch fluency, and volume.
DESCRIPTION
Completing evaluations / assessments to determine strengths and weaknesses of the child and / or to assist in program planning for children upon referral from child's primary care provider (prescription will always be obtained from doctor)
Performing evaluations / assessments of each child must be based on informed clinical opinion (the integration of both quantitative and qualitative information about a child's development and need for intervention services and supports)
Gathering information for any evaluation / assessment through systematic observations, interviews, curriculum-based assessments, and the appropriate use of standardized assessment measures
Performing evaluations to include language, speech, or hearing test results as well as medical information and barium swallow results to diagnose and develop a treatment plan for swallowing, fluency, language, speech, and voice disorders
Providing typed evaluation / assessments within five (5) days of completion of the evaluation / assessment to SenseAbilities for each individual child / family (Therapist's signature must be on the report to be considered complete.)
Assessing the patient's needs and adjust treatments in accordance with the patient's progression (i.e. : Developing treatment plans to assist patients with speech problems such as delayed language, inappropriate pitch, stuttering, swallowing disorders or harsh voice problems)
Designing treatment plans based on your own assessments as well as recommendations from social workers, physicians, and psychologists
Developing school programs or activities for individuals and / or groups to deal with language, swallowing, behavior, and speech problems
Teaching proper techniques for achieving more effective communication, such as lip reading, voice improvement and sign language
Instructing child on how to strengthen the muscles of the face, tongue, and jaw to facilitate improved speech
Completing documentation after any therapy session using ClinicSource software and within 48-hours of the session
Attending (at least) two SenseAbilities sponsored activities per year (Attendance must include 'Breakfast with Santa,' and 'Parent's Night Out'.)
Attending all scheduled staff meetings
Implementing the use of universal safety precautions when providing direct services with each child to assist in controlling the spread of infectious disease
REQUIREMENTS
Possess a Master's / Doctorate degree in Speech Language Pathology
Possess an active license approved by the Georgia Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in the field of Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
PREFERRED
Experience with pediatric population preferred, but not required
