OverviewTexas Oncology is looking for an Physician Assistant - Medical Oncology to join our team! The team will also consider an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) with oncology experience.

This position will support the Pearland, Texas location.This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experienceTexas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.

What does the Physician Assistant do? (including but not limited to)Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis.

This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research.

May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements.

Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to)* Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.

  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient / family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.* Assesses patient / family needs and provides education.* Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.* Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.* May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote / provide staff education* Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.QualificationsThe ideal candidate for the Physician Assistant position will have the following background and experience : Physician AssistantSuccessful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.Level 1 is entry-level and typically requires 0-3 years of experience.

Level 2 requires 3 years of experience.Level Sr requires 6 years of experience.Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.

Current basic life support (BLS) / CPR certification required.Physical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
