Guaranteed Hours : Facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks5 West is a 23 bed multi-specialty unit. The unit utilizes an acuity-adaptable model.
Each room has the versatility to serve acute and intermediate level patients. Eight of our patient rooms also adapt to service ICU level patients including management of swan Ganz catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps.
Our patient population is primarily Heart and Vascular. 5 West is also the home unit for surgical oncology and plastic surgery.
This unit functions as the stepdown unit for the Ashley River Tower offering a higher level of care for the many specialties in this building.
Nurse : patient ratios range from 1 : 2-1 : 4 based on patient acuity. This highly engaged team is innovative, dynamic, and fast-paced.
Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams.
If this is a problem, please ensure travelers do not confirm a new or ext assignment during the season. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year.
