Diverse Solutions Group currently has an opportunity available for an experienced Construction Superintendent / Manager to support Government Projects.
The Construction Superintendent / Manager will be accountable for the daily coordination and direction of Projects in a safe, budget-conscious manner.
The successful candidate for this position will possess strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure that Federal or Department of Defense construction practices and procedures are followed in the performance of project work.
- Ensure the team prepares daily project reports.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to involved staff and contractors.
- Be responsible for the coordination and control of subcontractors.
- Ensure the work environment is safe and incident-free.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings with staff.
- Review quotes, material requests, procured items, deliveries, and on-site production to validate accurate fulfillment and quality control.
- Perform inspections after each construction phase, and sign off on quality of workmanship along with crew leaders and external subcontractors.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working condition and order repairs as necessary.
- Ensure Quality Control and Site Safety reports are completed daily.
- Identify essential change orders and ensure they are correctly reported.
- Support monthly schedule updates.
- Identify risk and opportunity in all aspects of construction management, and implement mitigation measures where risks are appreciable.
- Provide on-the-job training for staff in carrying out construction supervision including contract administration, quality control, construction monitoring and evaluation, and other relevant activities.
- Assist with preparing requests for proposals and statements of work documents. Also contribute to contracts, change orders, material, and service purchase orders for approval by Owner.
Assess and, where appropriate, make recommendations on contractor requests for extension of time, claims for additional payment, and contractual disputes.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements :
- Exposure to extreme conditions, such as heat.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Walking and standing for long periods, driving, sitting, climbing.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at ceiling heights.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Requires a minimum of 5-10 years of demonstrated practical field experience as a tradesman, foreman, field engineer, or superintendent.
- Must have experience with government construction projects ranging in size from $150K-$5M.
- Education in the areas of engineering, construction management, or architecture preferred.
- Must have supervisory experience in infrastructure, new construction, or renovation.
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Construction Certification (CQC), First Aid / CPR Certification, and OSHA 30-Hour Certification needed.
- Must be able to acquire DOD standard contractor security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with LEED, Design-Build, Historical Preservation, AT / FP and / or ASHE Standards a plus.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
