Its membership consists of over 650 companies involved in seed production and distribution, plant breeding, and related industries in North America.

As an authority on plant germplasm, ASTA advocates science and policy issues of industry-wide importance.

ASTA’s mission is to be an effective voice of action in all matters concerning the development, marketing, and movement of seed, associated products and services throughout the US and around the world.

ASTA promotes the development of better seed to produce better crops for a better quality of life.

We are seeking a Director of Membership Engagement to lead strategic initiatives to attract, retain, and engage members in the association and its activities.

You’ll play a key role in developing and implementing membership programs, enhancing member satisfaction, and increasing overall engagement through targeted activities, meetings, and communications.

You will be challenged to reimagine our membership marketing materials and how to promote the value of membership to companies both within and adjacent to the seed industry.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Member Engagement & Retention :
  • Design and implement programs and initiatives to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Oversee the evaluation and development of member benefits and services, ensuring they meet the needs and expectations of the membership.
  • Monitor and assess member feedback, addressing concerns and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Communications & Outreach :
  • Create and manage content for newsletters, social media, and other communication channels to keep members informed and engaged.
  • Participate in conference planning sessions, sharing information gathered from the industry.
  • Coordinate and host events, webinars, and other activities to foster a sense of community and provide value to members.
  • Membership Strategy & Growth :
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, prospective members, and key stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to increase membership numbers and diversify the membership base.
  • Collect and analyze membership data and trends to identify opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communication teams and staff to create campaigns that drive membership recruitment and renewal.
  • Reporting & Evaluation :
  • Track and report on membership metrics, engagement levels, and program effectiveness.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for the board and executive team, highlighting progress and key insights.
  • Use data-driven approaches to continuously improve membership and engagement strategies.

Working Conditions :

  • Full-time position generally 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Travel will be required for events, conferences, and membership meetings roughly 20%.
  • Flexible hours as needed to accommodate membership needs and events.

Skills and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in membership management, engagement, or related roles, with a proven track record of success.

Agriculture industry experience is a strong plus.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring and developing staff.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse membership base.

Proficiency in membership management software and other relevant technologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
