Position Title : Director of Annual Giving
Reports to : Exec. Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA)
Primary Function :
Lead the planning, implementation, and continuation of programs that increase annual giving dollars and participation from alumni, parents, and other individual supporters of Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC).
Areas of Responsibility :
- Management and Oversight of the HCHC Annual Giving Fundraising
- Provide day-to-day management and oversight for HCHC Annual Giving (unrestricted) Fundraising.
- Lead the development of strategies to achieve dollar and alumni / donor participation goals.
- Work in partnership with the VPIA and Advancement team to effectively educate, inspire, and solicit all segments of the HCHC constituency.
- Facilitate planning with the Annual Giving team and implement strategies for solicitation of the HCHC constituency.
- Prepare and monitor the Annual Giving master plan.
- Provide support and serve as a resource to the VPIA and the Institutional Advancement Committee.
- Provide timely reports and updates to the VPIA, Board of Trustees, etc., on Annual Fund results and trends.
- In consultation with the VPIA, develop annual dollar and participation goals.
- Collaborate in the establishment and achievement of strategic plans, integrating the annual giving program with the entire development effort.
- Work with the communications staff to strategically include Annual Giving messages, stories, updates, and results in HCHC communications.
- Staff Supervision
- Supervise, and evaluate administrative and support staff.
- Alumni
- Identify, recruit, train, and supervise alumni volunteers; serve as the primary staff contact for alumni.
- Work with volunteers to develop annual solicitation letters.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers, providing current college information and reporting progress toward goals.
- Provide training for volunteers in personal solicitation as needed.
- Develop and distribute prospect lists for each volunteer, including ask amounts.
- Regularly share Lybunt (Last Year But Not This Year) lists with volunteers.
- Motivate and monitor volunteer progress throughout the year, offering support and training as needed.
- Collaboration with Alumni Office
- Partner with the Alumni Office to coordinate annual meetings and class reunions.
- Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of leadership annual fund donors.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward 20-30 leadership donors ($1,000+ annually).
- Assist in identifying prospects for planned and major gifts.
- Support for the Annual Fund Campaign
Collaborate with the VPIA to provide support for the Annual Fund campaign, particularly with the Board of Trustees.
- Budget Management
- Develop, propose, and manage the budget for Annual Giving.
- Relationship Building
- Maintain positive relationships with volunteers, colleagues, students, and other constituencies.
- Serve as a resource for the Alumni.
- Work as a team player within the division and across HCHC constituencies.
- Communicate Annual Fund results through internal email lists and other channels.
- Assist with various Advancement events.
- Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience :
Five years of direct experience managing annual giving programs or related advancement experience. Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Expertise in direct mail, telemarketing, personal solicitation, and managing fundraising volunteers.
- Knowledge and appreciation of philanthropy with a commitment to liberal arts education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams.
- Proven ability to lead projects to completion and set meaningful objectives.
- Proven ability to maintain relationships with direct reports, volunteers, and donors.
- Minimum of five years of experience in development or a related field.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) for collaboration and cloud-based file management.
- Experience with donor management and CRM software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, DonorPerfect) for tracking and managing donor information.
- Ability to maintain and update institutional databases accurately and efficiently.
- Familiarity with the Greek Orthodox Church environment is a plus.
Work Environment :
This position is a hybrid position based approximately 50% on-site at the Hellenic College Holy Cross campus and 50% at home, with occasional travel for off-campus events, donor meetings or training.
The Development Officer will play a crucial role in advancing the mission of HCHC by fostering relationships, supporting fundraising efforts, and managing key institutional advancement activities.

Compensation : Commensurate with experience
This is a full-time salaried position with a benefits package which includes immediate participation in a group healthcare plan, company paid dental, life insurance, short term and long term disability and immediate eligibility to participate in the company’s 403 B retirement plan.
Selection for the position will also require a background check in order to be in compliance with our campus Youth Safety Program.
