Position Summary :
Utilizing broad-based skills in basic patient care, ancillary services, and business office practices, provides assistance to providers in accordance with PNHS standard and policies.
Education / Experience :
Graduate from a Medical Assisting program accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
One or more years of experience desirable (preferably in a related field of medicine).
Special Knowledge / Skills / Certifications / Licenses :
Strong clinical and human relations skills. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and maintains standards of clinical skills and professional ethics as established by the AAMA.
Basic computer / keyboarding / mouse skills required. Demonstrates knowledge of age related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and ensure safety of patients.
BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and patient-centered Medical Assistant with strong interpersonal skills to join our Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Management team!
The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Management department focuses on helping patients limited by neurological and musculoskeletal conditions to optimize function and wellbeing.
We seek to provide patients with non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical methods to manage pain and enhance quality of life.
This MA will contribute to the patient experience and daily work flow of the clinic by performing the following duties :
- Room and discharge clinic patients, and review medications
- Administer immunizations and IM medications as needed
- Provide basic education to patients and families on what to expect during office visits and procedures
- Assist with procedure room and medication set-up. Prepare patients per protocol for procedures such as EMG, ultrasound-guided injections, botox, and acupuncture.
Monitor patients post-procedure, and document patient outcomes.
- Provide telephone support to Triage RNs, occasionally answering incoming calls and taking and communicating messages to RNs and clinicians
- Assist with medication refills per protocol
- Assist walk-in patients by answering questions and assisting patients per clinic protocol
- Complete disability, FMLA, and worker’s compensation paperwork as needed
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, department in-services and workshops, and other educational opportunities to enhance the patient experience
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Monday & Wednesday : Maple Grove : 7 : 15am-4 : 15pm
Tuesday & Thursday : St. Louis Park : 7am-5pm
Must be able to travel to St. Louis Park and Maple Grove.
