The Weekend Supervisor is responsible for aspects of clinical management, and for staff mentoring and supervision for Program / service delivery for a specific patient population.
In collaboration with the Program Directors and Assistant VP, as appropriate, the Weekend Supervisor ensures the efficient and effective operation of therapy services, participates in program development and provides leadership and education to mentor staff and to meet patient needs.
REQUIREMENTS :
- B.S. or Masters or Doctorate in Physical, Occupational or Speech Therapy.
- 4 years minimum of direct patient care experience and 1.5 years’ progressive managerial experience.
- New York State License.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to cultivate teamwork.
- Embodies the essence and intent of Burke CARES.
- Must be able to work both Saturday and Sunday on weekends.
WORK PERFORMED :
Clinical Management / Operational Responsibilities : Coordinates Saturday / Sunday scheduling and coverage of patientsConducts team meeting as needed, with the goals of team building, dissemination of information, quality improvementResponsible for direct patient careDemonstrates clinical competencies with a variety of patient populationsWith Program Directors, ensures compliance with the 3 Hour Rule Attends weekend huddles
2. Staff Supervision, Education, and Training :
- Provides staff orientation / competency assessments
- Provides informal and ongoing mentoring and feedback
- In collaboration with the Program Director, participates in completion of formal performance evaluations for all team members in accordance with established policies.
3. Leadership / Mentoring :
- Promotes positive problem solving and teamwork
- Fosters an environment of respect and open communication
- Serves as a resource person for staff, troubleshoots, responds to questions from staff
- Communicates clearly and concisely, with effective use of verbal and non-verbal skills
- Enhances professional growth and development through, i.e., continuing education and professional affiliations
- Focuses on patient safety, patient satisfaction, quality, and customer service
- Collaborates with Medicine, Nursing, and other departments as needed
- Creates and maintains positive relationships with patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and all hospital departments.
4. Patient Equipment Responsibilities
- Signs in patients’ durable medical equipment (DME)
- Coordinates any DME needs
5. Performs other duties as requested by Program Directors, AVP and VP of Rehabilitation Services
6. Miscellaneous :
- Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.
- Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.
- Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.
- Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.
- Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.
