The Whitney is looking for a Production Supervisor with general production and stage management experience on an overhire basis (project-based, no regular hours).

The Production Supervisor will work under the direction of Theater Management, internal stakeholders, or external producers / production management within the Susan and John Hess Family Theater and other Museum locations on occasion. This is an hourly position.

Main responsibilities :

  • Advance and execute assigned events in conjunction with Theater Management
  • Direct Local 306 Audio Visual and other Whitney production staff
  • Serve as interface between production staff and event stakeholders (Education, Curatorial, Special Events clients), accommodating technical needs or suggesting appropriate alternatives
  • Understand and enforce venue rules and guidelines
  • Occasional basic lighting operation for events
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements :

  • 3+ years of production or stage management experience in a theatrical, Museum performance, or equivalent setting
  • Friendly and professional attitude - the Production Supervisor will work in close proximity to the Whitney's artists & Education teams as well as rental clients
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to create, understand, and distribute production notes and schedules to relevant parties
  • Strong knowledge of theatrical audio, video, and lighting systems and their operation
  • Ability to operate basic lighting controls (faders on an ETC Ion or RFR app) and occasionally refocus lighting fixtures
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn Microsoft Office Suite, GSuite
  • Available to work late nights, weekends, and possible holidays

Physical requirements :

  • Ability to regularly walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and reach in various positions to perform tasks
  • Must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds
  • Comfort with occasional work at height on ladders and personnel lifts

Compensation :

This is a part-time temporary position with an hourly wage of $45.
