The USC International Academy, in Strategic and Global Initiatives, is seeking s to help students achieve academic and professional goals through high-quality instruction in English as a Second Language and university preparation.
Along with teaching hours, Lecturers are responsible for course and class preparation, student conferencing, grading, attendance at required meetings and all service and administrative duties associated with teaching.
Contact hours in this position are teaching hours / week. Specific program and course assignments for each semester and session are at the discretion of the International Academy.
The program’s curriculum is designed to provide integrated and sequential learning. It is important, therefore, that Lecturers confer with academic management to ensure consistency with the International Academy’s educational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop course materials for assigned courses
Participate in curriculum development projects
Assist with placement testing
Actively seek collaboration with colleagues
Maintain a consistent, supportive, student-centered approach appropriate for adult-learners
REQUIRED :
M.A. (in hand) or Ph.D. in TESL, ESL, Linguistics or Second Language Acquisition
Current active involvement in the field
Minimum of 3 years of IEP teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching
Experience teaching ESL and / or teaching EAP at the university level or in conditional acceptance programs with adult learners
Desire to teach all skills across all levels of English proficiency
Computer literacy, media literacy, experience with blended learning
PREFERRED :
Experience in ESL / IEP / EAP curriculum development
Experience teaching college-level reading, writing, communication, and research skills for international students
Overseas teaching experience (this does not substitute for required IEP experience)
Knowledge of or previous formal study of a second language
The annual base salary for this position is $,..
