JobSummary :

Plans coordinates andimplements care to the adult patient in the Cardiac Cath Lab.Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safemanner consistent with the unit's standards of care anddemonstrates competency skills appropriate to the clinicalarea.

Job Responsibilities andRequirements :

PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs on the CathLab procedure team as circulator, scrub, ormonitor.
  • Performs in holding by ensuringpatient is correctly prepped for the procedure. Ensures neededinformation, such as history and physical (H&P), istimely.
  • Utilizes critical judgment to analyzepatient assessment and administers medications on all patients,including the critically ill patient and reports abnormalinformation to the physician in a timelymanner.
  • Performs hemostasis safely and properlywith or without vascular devices.
  • Routinelyenters patient orders and charges. Checks charges to ensureaccuracy.
  • Provides care of the critically illpatient with the ability to function independently in a stressfulsituation.
  • Routinely educates patients andfamilies based on assessed needs, documents education provided, andkeeps them informed of tests and treatments.

Provides clear patientinstruction on what to expect during the perioperativeprocedure.

  • Assists families to the cardiologyarea or Cath lab area by escorting whennecessary.
  • May perform point of care testingaccording to policies and procedures.
  • Works ina constant state of alertness and safemanner.
  • Performs other duties asassigned.

EDUCATION

Graduate ofaccredited school of nursing or education equivalency forlicensing

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech toshare information through oralcommunication.
  • Constant standing andwalking.
  • Frequent lifting / carrying andpushing / pulling objects weighing 0-25lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboarduse / data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision anddepth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20feet or more) and to identify and distinguishcolors.
  • Frequent use of smell todetect / recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearingto receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and / or hearalarms, malfunctioning machinery,etc.
  • Occasional lifting / carrying andpushing / pulling objects weighing 25-50lbs.
  • Occasional lifting / moving ofpatients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping,kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot / leg andhand / arm movements.
  • Occasionaldriving.
  • Rare crawling andrunning.
