The Job :
This individual is responsible for taking incoming phone calls from patients or referring physicians, gathering the necessary information, and using that to schedule appointments for physicians.
This position is located in West Des Moines and will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday, between 7 : 45 AM- 5 : 00 PM
This non-exempt position has a hiring range of $16.00+ per hour based on years of relative experience within the medical industry.
Responsibilities :
- Schedule patient appointments from incoming calls from referring physicians and patients. (continuous)
- Maintains patient waitlist for patients wanting to get in sooner and assist with those last-minute cancellations and filling in with those on the patient waitlist. (continuous)
- Track all new patients on a spreadsheet to ensure scheduling is accurate. (continuous)
- Verify or enter inpatient demographics which include address, phone, and PCP information. (continuous)
- Update physician scheduling templates as needed. (continuous)
- Send new patient packets out the patients. (continuous)
- Route calls to the appropriate party via intercom or transfer as needed. (frequent)
- Importing patient medical records received from referring providers. (frequent)
- Work with billing department on flagged accounts (occasional)
- Arrange an interpreter as needed. (occasional)
- Complete Work Comp questionnaire. (occasional)
- Work with the work comp coordinator on scheduling appointments, tests, and surgeries as patient or employer requires. (occasional)
- Other duties as assigned
Experience / Education :
- High school education required.
- 1 years of customer service experience in a call center environment
- Equivalent or greater to Associates degree or 2 years of medical experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
- DMOS is a privately held medical facility. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment at DMOS will be required to complete a criminal background check, federal background checks, education verification, reference checks, and an initial TB test.*
