Virtus employs a comprehensive, dedicated multi-market and multi-channel distribution approach in the U.S. and select markets in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Experienced, channelized sales teams cultivate deep, diverse, and enduring relationships with financial advisers, consultants, and institutional and individual clients.

Virtus Investment Partners is seeking to add a Managing Director, Institutional Sales to the domestic team. This position will play a vital role in expanding the institutional business with a focus on new client acquisition across all market channels e.

g., public funds, corporate, E&F, Taft Hartley, and insurance. The sales professional will represent a wide cross-section of Virtus' investment management affiliates, across equities, fixed income, and alternatives.

Our preferred geographic location for this position is the West Coast with strong public plan experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to represent several different affiliates and investment strategies across a variety of asset classes.

The multi-boutique structure and the ability to represent many affiliates provide a multitude of unique opportunities.

The primary responsibilities for this role are direct sales and new business development within traditional institutional channels domestically.

This role will work closely within the firm's existing team of distribution and dedicated consultant relations professionals, as well as with the firm's senior investment professionals, client service team, client portfolio managers portfolio managers, and channel marketing partners.

The candidate hired in this role will have deep relationships with institutional clients across all market channels with a history of successful revenue generation.

We are looking for a driven individual who has a quantifiable track record of establishing successful, long-term account relationships and who is experienced with multi-asset strategies.

The candidate will have an understanding of the capital markets and be able to represent our affiliates across a variety of asset classes and strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Represent Virtus' affiliates in selling our products & strategies directly to potential institutional clients.

Construct and execute a strategic sales plan to acquire new institutional clients and raise assets within the domestic institutional market.

The plan should include strategies for pursuing prospective clients by type and geography.

  • Be responsible for the entire sales process, from start to finish, including coordinating finals (new prospects) meetings, account onboarding, and transition to the Client Service team.
  • Educate and deliver thought sales leadership to investors, highlighting the benefits of specific allocations of our affiliate products and strategies.
  • Work closely with affiliates' client portfolio managers and portfolio managers who serve as subject matter experts.
  • Update and record sales calls and activities, sales and market data, CRM, and pipeline reports.
  • Deliver investor feedback to marketing and product development teams and actively contribute to new product ideas.
  • Support other sales / marketing / conference activities as needed.
  • Gain intimate knowledge of products and spend time developing relationships and trust of key portfolio managers.
  • Strong communications internally and maximum utilization of resources.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings with potential investors.

Qualifications :

  • BA / BS degree in business or finance, with 10+ years of sales experience in the institutional asset management industry, or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • FINRA Series 7 license.
  • Proven experience within the institutional sales channel across all market channels.
  • In-depth knowledge of various asset classes with a focus on equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful sales and client acquisitions / retentions required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to establish priorities, work independently, handle interruptions, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Extensive travel is required.

The base salary range is $200,000 to $250,000.

The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

This position is also eligible to participate in an incentive plan .
