Our client is a publicly traded company in growth mode, based in Montgomery County, MD. They are in search of a Senior Accountant to join their team with a focus on payroll and accrued expenses in a SOX compliant environment.
This role is a hybrid schedule, 3 days onsite.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and reconcile accrued expenses, ensuring accurate recording and timely payment
- Maintains accrual and prepaid accounting ledgers, prepares journal entries and reviews monthly activity in the general ledger
- Oversee and manage the PO process, including creation, approval, and tracking
- Reviews vendors bill postings for correct general ledger and department coding and accuracy
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to track project costs, analyze variances, and ensure accurate project accounting
- Manages timely reporting of equity transactions for each payroll cycle
- Develops and implements payroll policies and procedures
- Analyzes payroll data and provides accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for circulation to management
- Captures payroll related accruals
- Oversees payroll audits and performs necessary corrections
- Participates in month end close processes by preparing payroll and benefit reconciliations and related journal entries to ensure all information is captured accurately
- Reconcile payroll accounts and address discrepancies promptly
- Implement and maintain internal controls in accordance with SOX requirements.
- Maintains internal controls for key processes to ensure compliance with SOX 404 regulations and procedures
- Assist in external reporting and audit preparations
- Reviews monthly activity in the general ledger
- Reviews and reconciles various balance sheet accounts, investigates variances, and prepares journal entries and supporting documentation.
