Shelter Harbor Golf Club is a seasonal club that operates from the beginning of May through the end of October. This six month period is fast paced and exhibits a high level of member usage.
The food and beverage operation at SHGC offers elegant, seasonal food with French, Mediterranean, Latin and Asian influences.
The menu offers simple things done well, using local ingredients when possible, or ingredients from specific farms. The menu also ventures into the cutting edge, including some food gastronomy techniques.
Several items on the menu change every two weeks. The members of Shelter Harbor Golf Club are worldly and well-traveled, offering us the opportunity to run food that is cosmopolitan.
We feature an extensive wine program and craft cocktails. Golf outings, weddings, club events and private events take place throughout the week Special Club Features
Shelter Harbor Golf Club was founded in 2004 and and is ranked 57th on *Golfweek*s Best Modern Courses in the U.S. Located in Charlestown, Rhode Island, the Club is 15 minutes from local beaches and 45 minutes from Providence, RI.
Club is open 6 days per week, 6 months per year.

The Shelter Harbor Golf Club is hiring a Lead Bartender.
The Shelter Harbor Golf Club, located in Charlestown, RI, is a seasonal club and the position is available from April through early November.
SHGC is a fine-dining establishment with a strong emphasis on superior service. A la carte lunch and dinner is served as well as hosting special member events and private functions.
Applicants must be available to work 35-45 hours per week on nights, weekdays, and weekends. Work during the day happens once or twice a week.
The Head Bartender is responsible for leading our team of bartenders during dinner service and during banquet events. Daily operations tasks include :
o Acts as Head Bartender for a la carte, functions, and club events.
o Observe the work of bartenders and ensure it aligns with trained expectations.
o Produces bartender side work, prep sheets, and cleaning schedules.
o Undertake and delegate cleaning duties to ensure bar areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
o Supervises and delegates bar setup for opening season and breakdown for closing season.
o Ensure all beverages are served in proper glassware and in proper condition.
o Responsible for purchasing, organizing and selling beer, liquor, and non-alcoholic beverages for a la carte, functions, and club / sporting events.
o Orderly storage of bar deliveries ensuring that all goods are stored within food safety guidelines.
o Receive and check all bar deliveries and ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely manner to Food and Beverage Manager for payment
o Safe storage and disposal of empty bottles and waste.
o Acts as liaison with beverage suppliers and representatives.
o Perform end of month inventory with Certified Sommelier according to club standards. Records and submits to Food and Beverage Manager by the end of the month.
o Act as the lead person for event bar setup and communicate expectations with appropriate people.
o Establish knowledge and continuing education of Rhode Island Alcohol Consumption Laws.
o Manages glassware inventory and cleaning schedule for store room.
Candidate Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have 1 to 2 years of experience bartending. They should be friendly, detail oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.
