Senior Manager, Product Software Arch and Eng

Job Summary

Equinix is the world's digital infrastructure company. Much of the internet that you know flows through our rapidly interconnected network and data centers.

We're looking for a senior engineering manager to lead the team in charge of developing storage appliances for our cloud adjacent storage platform.

We need a manager who will lead the team that drives the innovation, design, implementation, and improvement of large-scale systems with critical uptime requirements for our next growth phase.

You’ll help the team navigate the complexities of building intuitive, powerful tools for our customers and internal teams in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

Recruit, lead, mentor, and manage a global team of software engineers. Closely collaborate on requirements and schedules with Equinix's product management, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Build and foster an efficient build-it-and-run-it culture, blurring the lines between operations and development, reducing time to fix things that are broken.

Lead engineers to drive software design and improve our system architecture, making sure components are built in a way that is conducive for rapid development and deployment onto our platform.

Determine, align, and staff projects with the right engineers.

Engage the global Equinix community internally and externally. Much of the work of the team will be freely available to the world through open-source.

Qualifications

You’ve led remote teams of 7+ engineers for 3+ years, ideally focused on developing API-driven experiences for a technical audience

You have some experience with operating hardware and understand the challenges it can present

You're a servant leader, understanding that your team is successful because you are working to empower them and actively remove barriers

You make decisions with data when available and push for making them available when they aren't

You enjoy communicating through written English. As knowledge workers, we are effectively teachers and historians

You're an expert in some programming language. You need to be able to motivate engineers who are building production software

You have opinions about the technical details and can lead by example to foster strong organizational leadership

You have a broad background in writing software and operating production systems at scale in various contexts and have some specialties in modern cloud infrastructure and systems

You have strong opinions about the direction of cloud infrastructure, but you hold them loosely and enjoy working with others to achieve the best outcomes
