Job Function :
- Administer I.V. drugs to chemotherapy and other patients under the supervision of the physician; for flushing ports.
- Advise the Senior Charge Nurse / Pharmacy Manager NCC of needed medication and supplies.
- Appropriately dispose of chemo waste which may contaminate the environment.
- Prepare and maintain chemo equipment; inform Senior Charge Nurse / Pharmacy Manager of needed repairs.
- Educate patients on nutrition and side effects of the drugs used.
- Promptly recognize treatment of extravasation, according to department guidelines.
- Ensure that all new patients speak with the Business Office before receiving therapy.
- Responsible for control of schedule, i.e. when over-booked to attempt to reschedule patients.
- Documentation of drugs, solutions, treatments, and patient responses according to department guidelines.
- Follow department guidelines regarding protective techniques to avoid exposure to antineoplastic drugs during preparation and administration.
- Follow departmental guidelines regarding universal infectious control precautions and hazardous substance guidelines
Job Requirements :
- Valid IV Certification
- Valid NJ RN License
- Preferred :
ACLS ONS / OCN Certification PreferredNext Gen EMR experience preferred
