The Prevention, Education, and Treatment ( Center- Is operated by Jackson and the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, is committed to the well-being and health of its community.
The center's mission is to provide prevention, education, and treatment of HIV / AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.
Its focus is on early intervention followed by primary care services, including medical care, dental care, case management, nutritional services, and psychiatric care.
The . Center facilitates referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital and other Ryan White HIV / AIDS Program medical providers for specialized services, as needed.
Summary
The role of Attending Physician is to provide the medical management of the various patient care programs as assigned. Maintains effective lines of communications with the medical staff, nursing, social work and management, and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare / Medicaid and third party payers requirements.
- Works as scheduled and may rotate through System. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
- Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and / or infection control standards.
- Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel, specifically related to overall patient management.
- Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice. Participates in educational programs specific to patient care.
Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards.
Attends meetings and conferences, as directed. Participates in mandatory educational programs, in-service / training courses to maintain job competency skills.
Maintains effective communication and working relationships with JHS medical personnel in the community.
- Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities.
- Adheres to the Standards of Excellence at all times. Respects the rights, privacy and property of others at all times including the confidentiality of information, according to Administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
Complies with all applicable JHS policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements (including HIPPAA and clinical trials protocol).
Comply with all matters related to Department of Justice Consent Decree. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Maintains current knowledge on procedures, instruments, equipment; and integrates knowledge and skills into practice. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Prior experience and / or interest in primary care and HIV medicine preferred.
Education
Doctorate degree in Medicine is required.
Credentials
Valid Florida Medical License. Active DEA and board certification is required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
