About The Position
Job Title : Clinical Laboratory Scientist Job Specialty : Clinical Laboratory Science Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : May be needed for day or night shift, with some on-call shifts required.
Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : One (1) year of progressive clinical experience or one (1) year of hospital internship subsequent to degree.
License : Not specified Certifications : Medical Technologist (ASCP) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist (AMT) OR equivalent certification (as determined by a national credential certification agency).
Must-Have : Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.- Knowledge of all levels of laboratory testing including CLIA-defined high-complexity testing.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment use and operations. Job Description : Provide a full range of sample test analyses and laboratory services in a hospital-based laboratory under minimal supervision.
- Perform all levels of testing, including CLIA-defined high-complexity testing, and ensure 24-hour laboratory coverage.- Evaluate, judge, and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and resolving inconsistencies in patient results.
- Offer specialized expertise in microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, and infectious disease safety.- Perform patient specimen testing and ensure sample suitability.
- Provide limited test utilization and interpretation information to medical staff and nursing, referring advanced clinical questions to the Laboratory Medical Director.
- Educate staff in acceptable practices of laboratory medicine and provide LIS consultation.- Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring quality control and functionality.
- Assist with writing procedures in the CLSI format, updating department procedure manuals, and participating in Process Improvement activities.
- Assist in implementing CAP standards and CLIA regulations, coordinating inventory levels, and preparing the lab for inspections from regulatory institutions.
- Train new employees, staff, and laboratory students, and participate in continuing education programs.- Ensure adequate levels of inventory are maintained and perform other duties as assigned or required.
