About The Position
- Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty : Labor and Delivery (L&D) Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-Hour Nights Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 2 years License : Required Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), CPR, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have : NRP, Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Proficiency Job Description : - Unit has Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) beds - 1 OR Suite available on the unit for C-Sections - 2 Triage beds and 12 Postpartum beds available - Average of 580 births per year - Compliance with AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios - Experience with OB patients 35 weeks and above required - RNs required to titrate drips;
- common drugs include Pitocin and magnesium sulfate - Charge nurse available on all shifts, does not take patient assignments - Support staff includes OB techs who assist with C-sections - Pediatrician hospitalist or APRN available 24 / 7;
- OB presence when patient is in labor - Use of RT equipment, though babies with additional needs are sent to higher-level care - No Tele / Monitor Techs;
RNs required to interpret strips with the Traceview EFM System - Shifts are 12 hours from 7 am to 7 pm, or 7 pm to 7 am - Every other weekend and rotating holiday attendance required - No call or standby duties, and no floating requirements - Required to wear navy blue scrubs as part of dress code - Specific orientation includes 1 day of professional development and 1 to 2 days of shadowing - Ability for the client to cancel up to three shifts in a 13-week assignment - Charting is done through the MEDITECH - 6.
