Tarragon Property Services in Sumner, WA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Accounting Manager.
The Accounting Manager is a leader in the accounting department providing training, coaching, and mentorship to accounting team members, leads the month-end close process and drives the preparation and review of financial reports, and collaborates with the property management team on special projects and financial reporting.
This position is instrumental within our finance organization and has routine exposure to senior management and reports directly to the Controller.
Schedule : Full-time, in-office; Monday through Friday (remote work not available)
Pay Range : $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
Primary Responsibilities
- Review financial statements for a portfolio of entities, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports in accordance with closing calendar.
- Lead, train, and assist team members on the performance of month-end closing tasks.
- Oversee the implementation of accounting controls, policies and practices within the accounting team; assist with the development and implementation of policies and practices.
- Review and assist with the calculation of high-level accounting functions such as preferred return calculations, fixed asset accounting, distributions, cash projections, net income allocations and ownership transactions.
- Participate in preparation of annual Federal Tax Return and audit supporting documentation for 3rd party CPA firm.
- Mentor and coach accounting team members to recognize team members strengths, successes, address issues, and career advancements.
- Support the accountant and property management teams during the annual budget process.
- Collaborate with the property management teams to develop accounting training for their managers.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred or equivalent years of experience.
- 5+ years of experience in all phases of accounting from transaction level through completion of financial statements.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience managing team members.
- Experience in real estate industry preferred.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook; Yardi experience preferred.
- Proficient in reviewing, analyzing and interpreting financial information accurately for the purpose of preparing financial reports.
- Able to work as a team; communicate effectively and professionally, think critically, and problem solve.
- Changes approach or method to best fit the situation or circumstances. Able to deal with changes, delays or unexpected events.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for organization. Able to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines.
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
This position offers a competitive salary between $110,000.00 - $135,000.00 and the following benefits :
