Resource coordinator, Nurse The Resource Nurse is an important member of the unit-based leadership team in clinical practice environments to extend leadership presence and provide clinical support.
Under the leadership / direction of the Donor Collection Manager, the resource nurse is a representative of the Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) Donor Services and supports the Donor Collection Manager in translating the vision and values of the Blood Donor Center, Blood Donor Mobile Units, Apheresis Collections, and the Component Processing Lab.
The resource nurse helps to develop the very best staff, assists with assessing and improving clinical operations, and providing the highest level of care to MGH blood donors.
The resource nurse may perform leadership functions as developmentally appropriate under the mentorship and coaching of the Donor Collection Manager and may be assigned the management of specific projects.
Principal duties and responsibilities : - Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate to build / implement process changes.
- Support Nurse Manager and BTS Compliance Officer to ensure staff readiness for regulatory agency inspections. - Provide a clinical leadership presence to maintain team culture aligning with Mass General Brigham employee expectations, and departmental expectations.
- Provide onboarding and training competency updates to Nurse Manager. Collaborate to maintain a training schedule, adjusting according to employee learning needs.
- Provide solution-oriented feedback / problem solving to peers and follow appropriate departmental escalation tactics. - Assesses, observes, demonstrates, and evaluates donor carer.
- Maintains a safe environment for donors and staff within the assigned areas in compliance with SOPs. - Ensures complete confidentiality of donor information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with Nurse Manager and Compliance Officer to conduct investigations for SOP deviation and collectionerror incidents.
- Oversees Blood Donor Center daily workflow. - Collaborates with intra-departmental areas such as donor services, blood bank, BTS medical team, to provide the best care possible to donors.
- Takes initiative and a proactive approach to troubleshoot clinical challenges that arise day to day. - Works in clinical assignment according to staffing departmental needs.
- Assumes other departmentally appropriate tasks as delegated by Nurse Manager. - Ensures that all donor and quality control records are accurate and complete, in collaboration with Nurse Manager.
- Is actively involved in the inventory and management of critical supplies. Requires lifting of supplies and equipment weighing 20 lbs.

Be responsible for and assists in the orientation and training of all new staff members. - Ensures competency levels are achieved and maintained.
Professional Development : - Identifies learning needs and goals and designs a plan to meet them. - Maintains necessary clinical skills through self-directed practice.
Supports and participates in departmental administration and institutional committees. Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Associate's Degree in Nursing with 3+ years of clinical experience. Experience : Required : A minimum of 2-5 years of resource nurse / charge nurse / leadership experience in clinical settings.
Preferred : Additional non-supervisory experience in blood donor collection, experience in apheresis or dialysis and / or critical care experience highly desirable.
