Position Summary
The Department of Biology in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Jackson State University invites applications for a non-tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Biology.
Qualifications Minimum Required Education Must have a Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a closely related area. Minimum Required Experience
Research experience in remote sensing and geographical information systems as applied to coastal and marine ecosystems management.
Preferred areas of research include, but not limited to coastal and marine ecology, wetland ecology, environmental restoration, environmental systems, natural resources management, and environmental impact assessment and management.
Applicants with post-doctoral experience in remote sensing and geographical information systems applied to coastal and marine ecology, ecosystems dynamic and environmental management, and a proven research and grantsmanship record is a major plus.
Minimum Required Licenses and / or Certifications None Qualifications Knowledge or remote sensing principles and methods to analyze data, GIS applications, programming, and planning and managing GIS projects.

- Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate environmental science and related courses in the area of expertise.
- Train students in relevant areas of environmental science as they apply to the applications of Remote Sensing and GIS to the assessment, monitoring, mapping, and modeling environmental phenomena.
- Other responsibilities include teaching graduate level courses, advising and mentoring students, and developing and implementing research programs in applications of remote sensing and GIS for environmental studies with focus on wetland, coastal and marine ecosystems.
