Data Center Technical Lead
Job Description
AECOM is seeking to hire a highly skilled Data Center Technical Lead for our US Data Center practice.
The candidate will oversee and drive the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete data center design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop and implement ACS ( Architectural, Civil & Structural ) strategies and plans for building access control and security systems.
Collaborate with the design team to integrate ACS components into the building's infrastructure and ensure compatibility with other MEP systems in the data center
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, MEP engineers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to coordinate the design, installation, and maintenance of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, BMS & EPMS, security, and telecom systems.
Ensure seamless integration and proper functioning of these systems throughout the design and construction life cycle of the data center project
Review ACS and MEP design drawings, specifications, and plans to identify potential conflicts, errors, or issues. Coordinate with the design team to resolve any conflicts or discrepancies and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards
Assist in the development and management of project schedules, budgets, and resources related to ACS and MEP systems in data centers.
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the project team. Coordinate with contractors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of ACS and MEP equipment and materials
Conduct regular quality assurance and quality control sessions / audits to ensure that ACS and MEP deliverables meet client requirements while following the stage gate QA / QC process
Identify and resolve technical issues and challenges related to ACS and MEP systems during the design, execution, commissioning, and handover stages.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop innovative solutions and ensure the smooth operation of these systems within the data center
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to ACS and MEP systems, including design logs, drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and project correspondence.
Prepare regular progress reports and participate in project meetings to provide updates on ACS and MEP coordination activities
Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards for ACS and MEP systems in data centers.
Implement safety in design and promote a safe working environment and identify potential hazards or risks associated with systems involved
Demonstrate strong leadership skills to motivate and manage project teams, promote collaboration, resolve conflicts, and facilitate effective teamwork.
The ability to delegate tasks, provide clear directions, and mentor team members is important for project success
Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of an assigned project.
May manage various size groups of architects, designers and / or specialists.
May work on modest size projects and / or assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers with higher grades.
