Responsibilities
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will :
- Conduct various tests to evaluate speech and language status of consumer
- Plan and conduct speech language interventions, therapies and treatments
- Implement testing procedures to evaluate and monitor participant progress following stated treatment period as required by appropriate regulatory agency
- Assess oral motor development and ability to intake food orally and develop a treatment plan appropriate to identified disabilities, subject to professional licensure requirements established by respective funding source
- Keep current in latest alternative communication techniques and implement appropriate techniques subject to agreement of necessary parties
- Maintain daily and monthly attendance records and progress notes
- Provide therapy progress reports to parents / guardians or appropriate treatment team members
- Ensure individuals receive services appropriate to their needs and consistent with regulatory requirements
- Ensure parents, guardians and other individuals with responsibility for individual’s care and treatment are kept informed and up to date about individual’s progress
- Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide supervision to students and CFY’s as needed
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications :
- Master's Degree in Speech Therapy
- NYS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
- Computer savvy
- Solid assessment and documentation skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills :
- 1+ year of Speech Therapy experience
- Knowledge of Picture Exchange Communication and manual sign language
