Technical Trainer

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Trainer to join our team and help improve the training experience for engineers and developers within Northwestern Mutual.

The primary focus of this role is to streamline and unify training materials across various security topics, ensuring a consistent and effective training experience for our technical resources.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) within Information Risk & Cybersecurity (IRC) and engineering community to create comprehensive training curriculum and resources for engineers and developers.
  • Serve as the SME for project to develop a well-structured and easily accessible training path that caters to both the general population and technical resources within NM.
  • Identify any emerging security issues or gaps in knowledge among engineers and developers.
  • Create and deliver real-time training to address these issues promptly, ensuring that the organization remains up-to-date with the latest security practices.
  • Work closely with SMEs within IRC to gather information, validate training materials, and incorporate their expertise and insights into the training content.
  • Regularly update and maintain the streamlined training path, keeping the content current and reflective of the evolving security landscape.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and advancements to enhance the effectiveness and relevance of the training materials.

Bring Your Best! What this role needs :

  • Strong background in technical training and instructional design, preferably within the engineering or software development domain.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to develop training content.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively deliver technical training to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with security topics and best practices, including risk management frameworks, secure coding principles, cloud security, and vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Knowledge of training tools such as Rise, Articulate, or Storyline 360 by Articulate.
  • Understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies.
  • Proficiency with security tools including Owasp Top 10, Checkmarx, Sysdig, SonarQube, DAST, and SAST.
  • Solid organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate fast-paced changes in the training landscape.
  • A self-motivated and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation Range : Pay Range - Start :

Pay Range - Start : $82,670.00

Pay Range - End : $153,530.00

$153,530.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate;

the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
