JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Development Director to assist our renewable energy client's Project Development team.

This role will oversee and guide the early-stage prospecting team to identify and create new renewable and storage investment opportunities across the United States.

Responsibilities include leading early-stage prospecting, project evaluations, securing site control, and entering the interconnection queue for large-scale renewable and storage projects across the country.

The ideal candidate is an experienced developer interested in managing a team of direct reports and significantly growing energy investment opportunities across the US.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Negotiate commercial terms effectively and ethically with various stakeholders.
  • Identify strategic business opportunities : perform risk assessments, business impact analyses, strategy selection, and mitigate risk
  • Work closely with the customer at all levels of the organization (C-Level executives to procurement personnel)
  • Lead early-stage renewable project prospecting to drive growth.
  • Manage a development budget and prudently spend company resources to create investment opportunities
  • Lead and manage project team members and technical subject matter experts.
  • Provide direction to internal stakeholders such as, engineering, environmental, underwriting, operations, treasury, risk, tax, finance, accounting, insurance, corporate communications, etc.

Up to 50% travel should be anticipated to conduct site visits, meet with stakeholders, and manage existing development projects.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, Engineering
  • 10+ years of business development experience.
  • Renewable Development experience.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years’ experience in utility-scale renewable energy development
  • Extensive knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, interconnection process, real estate contracts, tax abatements and renewable energy technologies & policy incentives
  • Master's degree
  • Proven experience developing and successfully building renewable energy projects.
