The Junior Staff Accountant oversees the general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Reconciles account balances and bank statements.
  • Helps in preparation of general ledger journal entries, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliation.
  • Prepares, reviews and interprets data for inclusion in financial reports, statements and summaries.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy, identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Assists with company cash flow analysis including but not limited to tracking cash flow activity, preparing reports, and analyzing information for management.
  • Assists members of the AR and AP Departments with reporting and analysis to be provided to the Controller and Owners.
  • Develops reporting and variance analysis.
  • Assists with annual external reviews.
  • Assist with related special projects as required.
  • Take initiative to accomplish open tasks; be proactive and seek additional work when available.
  • Maintain positive work relations; support teamwork and help coworkers accomplish team goals
  • Listen and communicate respectfully with employees at all levels within the organization and outside vendors.
  • Attendance : Maintain regular attendance and follow call out and time off procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the Junior Staff Accountant or as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent and / or a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Proficient in accounting software, preferably NetSuite a plus.
  • Experience with sales tax software (Avalara) a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent financial management skills

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 15 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break.

This position may occasionally require longer hours when workload or project deadlines require it.

Travel

There is no travel required for this position.
