The Nurse Externship Program is an 8- week summer program designed for students entering their senior year of their BSN program, who have completed at least one semester of medical-surgical nursing clinical.
The opportunities available are within our inpatient specialty departments; Medical Oncology & Surgical Oncology.
The following requirements must be submitted along with your application :
- Professional resume
- Two professional letters of reference
o Recent medical-surgical instructor
o Additional instructor or preceptor
Job Summary
The nurse extern program is designed to provide the nursing student with an opportunity to strengthen and reinforce their knowledge and skill in the practice of nursing under direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor The nurse extern will follow their preceptor's work schedule and assist in nursing care.
Additionally, nurse externs will attend didactic educational sessions and complete a patient education project.
Education :
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Other : Completion of 1 med / surgical clinical rotation and are entering their final year of their nursing program. (Required)
Licenses & Certifications
BLS - Basic Life Support (Required)
