Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse RN Intermediate Care nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in our progressive care stepdown unit.

In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role :

As a registered nurse you will deliver patient-centered nursing care and participate in patient and family education.

On the critical care step-down unit you will monitor heart rhythms, titrate select drips, and utilize critical thinking to manage your patient.

Working with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, providers and patient care staff, you will create and implement a care plan to meet each patient’s needs.

Utilizing computerized documentation systems, you will monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.

As a part of the clinical team in the critical care step-down unit, you will coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

When dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, you will maintain cultural and diversity awareness, and much more.

You will have the opportunity to attend the Critical Care Internship for growth.

What qualifications you will need :

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).

Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.

1 year of medical surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
