Brief Description of Program :

PCS Mental Health, LLC will operate a Residential Treatment Facility for Adults (RTF-A) serving members from Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Carbon, Monroe and Pike Counties.

In this locked, sixteen bed homelike setting, Members will continue in their recovery journey and will develop and improve the skills needed to disrupt the cycle of institutional living.

The RTF-A will be staffed 24x7 to provide members the support, education and knowledge to live within the greater community.

Each member will identify his / her own Blue-Sky, life-worth-living goal(s) and use these as inspiration in developing their unique Recovery / Treatment Plan.

Summary of Job Duties :

The Certified Peer / Recovery Specialist (CPS / CRS) supports individuals within the CRR and SIL by partnering around the challenges that can come with the symptoms of a Mental Health and / or Substance use diagnosis.

Through the use of such tools such as the WRAP plan and Person Centered supports, the CPS / CRS will help empower the member to identify and work towards their Blue Sky goals.

By providing unconditional and nonjudgmental listening while also supporting the utilization of skills needed for the member to begin creating a higher quality of life, the CPS serves as a mentor to those they serve.

The CPS / CRS provides opportunities for individuals to direct their own recovery plan and supports, build self-worth, wellness, empowerment and self-advocacy.

The CPS / CRS will promote and contribute to the development of a culture of recovery and hope within the program and agency as a whole.

Specific Responsibilities :

  • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with members and appropriately engage them to identify interests, strengths, goals, dreams and aspirations while offering encouragement and empowerment through shared experience to enhance strengths and capabilities for members.
  • Meet with members, in collaboration with PRC, to begin creating treatment plan following treatment plan format.
  • Facilitate a weekly group based on RPS specific skills, passions and member needs.
  • Co-Facilitate skills groups as well as groups when appropriate.
  • Attend and participate in treatment team meetings, providing feedback regarding members and offering unique perspective.
  • Supports members in planning for and attending 12 Step Meetings, finding a Sponsor, doing Step Work when appropriate.
  • Encourage members in the development of Personal Medicine Skills.
  • Serve as an advocate for member while continually supporting, teaching and encouraging self-advocacy skills.
  • Support Member use of DBT skills as taught by Team (training will be provided)
  • Welcome newly admitted members to the community. Assist in orientation of the program by sharing information on program structure and opportunities, tour and introductions to community and staff.
  • Promoting community integration through the connection of resources, linking to supports, mutual-help groups, social clubs, volunteer and job opportunities.
  • Serve as a role model with a willingness to share personal experience when appropriate with members, families and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
  • Support members in the development and implementation of their transition goals and plans.
  • Provides weekly documentation in electronic data base regarding member progress, goals, struggles and utilization of skills and support.
  • Serving on agency internal workgroups, trainings and meetings.
  • Attend continuing education requirements as required
  • Maintain CPS / CRS Certification

Position Expectations

  • Staff member will participate in a multidisciplinary treatment team and will support and implement interventions and clinical directives as directed by the Psychiatrist, the Clinician or the Team.
  • Staff member will demonstrate in their work with Members at ALL times, compassion, and concern when supporting a Member through embracing our organization's Mission and Core Values.
  • Staff will approach Member engagement from a non-judgmental stance understanding that a Member's behavior is driven by past experience, which may include trauma.
  • Staff will treat and speak to Members with supportive kindness even when a Member demonstrates intense behavioral or emotional actions.

Staff will show Members dignity and respect for their values and lifestyle.

  • Staff will seek out appropriate support through consultation with Program Director and obtain supervision, when they are uncertain about how to respond or support a Member effectively.
  • Staff will report back to the Program Director and Team, any observations of Member behavior that suggests Member may need additional treatment interventions and / or support.
  • Staff will engage with all external parties / individuals with appropriate professionalism and with a positive customer service approach, understanding that they are representing the organization at all times.

Qualifications

  • The Certified Peer / Recovery Specialist will have at least a high school diploma; Bachelor Degree preferred
  • At minimum, an individual must meet the CPS / CRS training qualifications and is able to provide documentation of completing the CPS or CRS training in entirety within 90 days of hire.
  • CPS / CRS must maintain certification throughout tenure of employment in this capacity
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • High energy individual with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
