Position Summary

Morris Brown College seeks a proactive, technically skilled, and service-driven Director of

Information Technology to manage and advance the college's IT systems, infrastructure,

and compliance requirements. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role that

combines strategic planning with direct daily execution of IT operations.

The Director will serve as the college's chief IT officer, responsible for Help Desk

management, system administration, cybersecurity, vendor coordination, and long-term

technology planning. The role requires both the vision to guide the institution's digital

future and the technical expertise to deliver practical solutions in a lean environment.

  • This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the college's lead IT administrator and strategist, directly managing daily

    • operations while planning for future technology growth.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Help Desk, including triage, ticket

    • tracking, and resolution for faculty, staff, and students.

  • Administer Active Directory, Microsoft 365, system access, email provisioning, and

    • account management.

  • Lead implementation and support of Single Sign-On (SSO) and other integrations

    • that improve campus-wide technology access.

  • Manage setup, configuration, and maintenance of endpoints, printers, smart

    • classrooms, and related hardware.

  • Oversee IT inventory, procurement, and lifecycle planning, working closely with

    • Fiscal Affairs.

  • Partner with external vendors and contractors to deliver specialized IT services and

    • projects.

  • Develop, update, and test the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan

    • (BCDR) to ensure institutional resilience.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GLBA, FERPA, and TRACS standards,

    • coordinating with leadership and the IT Committee.

  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including risk assessments, awareness training, and

    • annual compliance activities.

  • Collaborate across Academic and Administrative units to align IT services with

    • student success and institutional priorities.

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of direct IT administration experience, including system and

    • network management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, and endpoint

    • support.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and

    • compliance regulations.

  • Ability to manage projects, prioritize effectively, and work independently in a

    • resource-limited environment.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience in higher education or nonprofit IT administration.
  • Familiarity with TRACS accreditation requirements.
  • Experience managing vendor contracts and service-level agreements.
  • Professional certifications (CompTIA, CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or similar).

    • Salary

    The range for this opportunity will be up $70,000 to $75,000 per year. This is a grant-funded

    position and is contingent upon funding.
