- WILL NOT APPROVE BLOCKED SCHEDULING OR SAME SCHEDULE / SHIFTS.
- MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO FLOAT AND WORK WHEN NEEDED.
Schedule Information
- 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.
- Shifts & Scheduling : 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / Smart Square online scheduling
- Weekend Requirements : Every third
- Holiday Requirements : Rotating with perm staff
- Floating Requirements : Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients
Unit Specific Information
- Department : PCU
- Beds : 40 beds with average daily census of 24
- Ratios : 1 : 4-5 both days and nights
- Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Adults, Cardiac med / surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure
- Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes
- Common titratable & / or set rate drips : Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes
- Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : Yes, 1 : 12
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? : High flow
- Are there Tele / Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?
RNs must read and interpret
- Scrub Color / Dress code : Navy Blue
- How many shifts of unit / department specific orientation? : 1 week
Additional Details
- Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner.
- Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications.
- Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way.
- Different cultural populations are served on this unit - primarily Hispanic and Somalian.
- RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
