Job description summary

Due to rapid growth in our North American business, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join the Sophion Biosciences team.

As a critical member, you will play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance and functionality of our automated QPatch II and Qube instrumentation at client sites.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement upgrades, providing comprehensive training sessions, and conducting regular system evaluations to uphold the highest standards of instrument reliability.

As a key ambassador for Sophion, you will cultivate strong client relationships through effective communication and prompt resolution of technical challenges, contributing to the continued success of our expanding North American operations.

Sophion Bioscience is a leading global life science company founded in 2000 by a group of passionate electrophysiologists, with the aim of making patch clamping objective and independent of user skills.

We specialize in developing and manufacturing automated patch clamp and cell line solutions. With our complete technical, biological, and application support, we help our partners pioneer ion channel research and drug discovery.

We take the voodoo out of patch clamping to provide faster, more accurate, and objective patch clamping results for our users.

Through the continued development of our QPatch, and Qube 384 platforms, we offer uncompromised data quality in a user-friendly environment, from assay setup to advanced data analysis.

We are headquartered in Denmark and have subsidiaries in Boston, United States, Japan and China.

Key responsibilities

  • Installation and Commissioning : Conducting on-site installation and commissioning of Sophion Automated Patch Clamp instrumentation, ensuring it meets the client's specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintenance and Repairs : Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of QPatch and Qube systems to ensure uninterrupted functionality.

Responding promptly to service requests and providing timely resolutions.

  • Training : Providing training to clients on the proper usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Sophion Automated Patch Clamp instrumentation, ensuring they have a clear understanding of its features and capabilities.
  • Customer Support : Serving as a point of contact for technical support, addressing client inquiries, and maintaining strong relationships with customers to enhance satisfaction.
  • Documentation : Creating detailed service reports, documentation, and maintaining accurate records of all service activities.

Providing feedback to the engineering team for continuous product improvement.

Collaboration : Collaborating with the sales and engineering teams to communicate client feedback, potential product enhancements, and identifying opportunities for upselling additional services or products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, a related field or equivalent certifications
  • In-depth knowledge of liquid handling devices from various industry systems; ensuring proper integration and functionality is beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with field service work
  • Experience with service management systems and processes
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of Festo pressure systems is a plus
  • Manage MySQL and Oracle databases to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
  • Network Configuration and Maintenance : configure and troubleshoot network setups, routers, and DHCP configurations to guarantee optimal system connectivity.
  • Possess a basic understanding of Linux systems to address software and operating system-related challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to address technical issues promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues, ensuring a positive and collaborative working environment.

Travel is required.

You should expect to travel 80% to start and 60-80% of the time once the initial training is complete.
