A Brief Overview
Reporting directly to the President and CEO of both SHC and SMCH, the SHC / SMCH Chief Compliance Officer oversees a comprehensive hospital and clinical compliance program that includes ensuring compliance with Medicare and Medicaid billing regulations, fraud and abuse laws, applicable state laws, and HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the compliance and privacy program.
- Leading and managing the organizational compliance program.
- Developing and implementing written policies, procedures, and standards of conduct related to compliance.
- Stewarding compliance committees comprised of senior SHC / SMCH leaders.
- Enforcing standards through disciplinary guidelines.
- Overseeing compliance, auditing, and training matters.
- Providing guidance regarding compliance matters.
- Overseeing compliance training and education.
- Responding to government investigations regarding compliance matters.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline / field from an accredited college or university; JD preferred.
Experience Qualifications
- Ten years of directly related work experience in health care compliance.
- Substantial experience addressing matters concerning professional fee billing.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of HIPAA and other applicable privacy laws.
- Strong interpersonal skills and credibility in interacting with leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and an adaptable approach.
- Strong project management and facilitation skills.
Licenses and Certifications
CHC-Certification in Healthcare Compliance preferred.
