Description & Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Scientist to join our team and independently lead complex research projects into the genomics of cats and dogs.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of research publications in veterinary medicine and medical genomics.
Minimum requirements
- Education : Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of related job experience in veterinary medicine, computational genomics and nonhuman medical genomics.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Leadership : Define, lead, and drive research projects independently, setting and managing progress toward goals.
- Research Execution : Independently design and execute complex research projects integral to the mission of the organization, impacting the external research community.
- Innovative Development : Develop research goals and methods, applying novel concepts and devising new approaches to solving problems using wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
- Scientific Exploration : Identify new scientific opportunities and research directions for further exploration, investigating and implementing new technologies.
- Scientific Leadership : Maintain a reputation as an emerging leader in the field with sustained performance and accomplishment, contributing to scientific literature and conferences recognized at a national level.
- Grant Writing and Funding : Direct and / or participate in major proposal preparation, lead the writing of grants to fund specific projects, and participate in strategic planning for the lab.
Maintain external research networks to identify and develop new funding sources.
- Mentorship : Train, supervise, or mentor junior members of the group, contributing to their development and the overall success of the team.
- Budget Management : May have some responsibility for the development of project budgets and work with institutional administrative staff in the close management of those budgets.
