The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will report to the Certified Medical Assistant Supervisor (CMAS), the Practice Physician and / or the Practice Administrator.
Under the direction of the Practice Physician and Certified Medical Assistant Supervisor (CMAS), the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will provide superior patient care and perform both clinical and administrative tasks.
· Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and filing claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
· Greet, prepare, and take patients to examination room, this includes :
o Take patients' vital signs, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, height, weight, and medical history. o Understand, properly document, and convey reason for visit or medical complaint
o Record and update all patient information from pulse oximetry, changes in allergies, and pain levels in EMR.
o Performs venipuncture and electrocardiograms, as ordered by the physician.
o Collect, preserve, and properly label laboratory specimens, bodily fluid, and blood samples.
o Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
· Assisting the Practice Physician during examination
· May be called upon to explain medical procedures to patients. Provide instruction to patients about medication and special diets under the direction of the physician.
· Responsible for sterilization and preparation of medical instruments. Making sure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients.
· In coordination with the CMAS, assist in maintaining inventory of all necessary supplies and inventory instruments.
· In coordination with the CMAS, assist in maintaining and stocking all equipment for all exam rooms and inventory.
· Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
· Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations. As well as, passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties.
This includes, calling pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
· Draw and conduct injection of vaccines, medications, and intradremal injections.
· Monitor refrigerator temperature and log for all refrigerated vaccines and medications.
· Other office and clinical responsibilities, assigned by supervisor(s) or Physician, as deemed necessary.
