Sperton Global AS , a global recruitment and consulting firm with entities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, is partnering with our client, a global leader in power and technology, to hire a  Remote Field Service Engineer – Data Center  for their U.S. Service team. This is a  full-time, field-based role requiring up to 85% travel  to customer sites, supporting data center power transformers and high-voltage substation equipment.

Role Overview

The Field Service Engineer will cover  one assigned region . The role involves delivering technical field assignments including installation, commissioning, diagnostics, maintenance, and integration of power transformers and high-voltage substation equipment. The position also includes advanced troubleshooting, software / hardware setup, protective relay testing, and direct customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-site and remote field service for power transformers and substation equipment.
  • Install and integrate transformer hardware, sensors, and accessories.
  • Configure and test transformer software (licenses, firmware, connectivity).
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and subcontractors during projects.
  • Conduct field tests using Omicron relay test systems for protective relay testing.
  • Work with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and reporting standards.
  • Prepare detailed service documentation and technical recommendations.
  • Travel up to 85% within the assigned region, with remote / home-based work when not traveling.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with power transformers or high-voltage substations (>
  • 69kV).

  • Proven experience testing protective relays using omicron test system or equivalent.
  • Background in data centers or other high-reliability environments.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, relay diagrams, and test results.
  • Familiarity with test equipment : CB timers, power factor testers, CT / PT testers, TTR, and Meggers.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship).
