The Position

The Revenue & Operations Improvement practice is looking for a consultant with Performance Improvement, Case Management and / or Throughput experience as a member of the Total Revenue service line.

The successful candidate is able to integrate their prior experience with clinical management, quantitative analysis and teaming with various hospital stakeholders to improve processes, measurement tools, and drive value for the client.

This role will partner with clients and our team (finance and clinical) in all phases of Performance Improvement engagements to assist them to succeed.

Client Services and Project Delivery

  • Produce and develop high-quality work product / deliverables that exceed client expectations on a consistent basis
  • Demonstrate expertise in any combination of the following :
  • Length of stay management
  • Clinical operations, within hospital preferred
  • Quality metrics / measures programs
  • Case management and utilization review
  • Physician practice consulting labor productivity
  • Revenue Cycle
  • Serve as direct conduit to clients; field and respond to requests directly from the client and keep project sponsor apprised of project status
  • Proactive in communicating engagement timelines, deadlines, responsibilities, and client expectations; provides frequent status updates to team leadership and clients
  • Anticipate client needs and contribute to shaping the overall work product and underlying analyses
  • Lead and manage an engagement including workplan development and management, client status reporting, delegating and providing team members direction

Staff Development

  • Facilitate the growth and development of junior team members
  • Provide candid and constructive feedback on a timely basis to all levels of project team
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by striving to keep team members engaged and interested in their assignments
  • Actively seek opportunities to collaborate and share knowledge with peers

Practice and Business Development

  • Strive to develop and maintain good relationships with clients
  • Proactively seek to improve tools / processes utilized in client work
  • Interest in building client sales experiences and capabilities

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess :

  • 5+ years of consulting experience with a project management focus
  • Ideally have an understanding and demonstrated experience in the areas of performance improvement : case management / utilization review, observation management, revenue cycle, length of stay management and / or clinical operations
  • Have a deep understanding and interest with quantitative analysis
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office suite of tools : Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
  • Experience analyzing large data sets, problem solving and quantitative analysis
  • Experience with SQL and / or Tableau or equivalent platform
  • An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple, logical, and impactful manner
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and foster a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability of developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and / or clients at the executive level
  • Experience / knowledge of regulatory compliance issues facing the healthcare industry and an awareness of key methodologies, approaches, and market trends in the industry
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, organizational, and motivational skills
  • A desire to deliver to a high standard in a suitable timeframe
  • Self-motivating, adaptable, able to prioritize, and able to inspire and motivate others
  • This position requires travel up to 75% to client sites throughout the United States

Education - Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting, Finance, Science / Business combination or Healthcare Management / Administration is preferred.

Engineering, Science, Economics, Public Policy, Operations or Information Systems with a minor in of the above, will also be considered

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations

transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading

Work Environment

  • Travel Required : up to 75%
  • Ideally this position is based in Chicago, but we are open to other cities
  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of home office and client settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment
  • It will require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel
