About the Organization The South Side Healthy Community Organization (SSHCO) is non-profit organization built as a collaborative of 13 healthcare organizations - safety net hospitals, health systems and Federally Qualified Health Centers - on the South Side of Chicago.
Supported by generous state funding, the SSHCO aims to build a healthcare system that will prioritize community needs, intervene earlier, and respond better.
Our model, driven by community input, will better connect existing health organizations, increase access to care, address some of the most challenging health issues we face, and ultimately, build health equity and ensure stronger, healthier communities across the South Side of Chicago.

Description
This is a .5FTE (20hr / weeek) position.
As an integral part of the SSHCO administrative team, the Chief Medical Officer serves as a strategic leader within SSHCO and support to our collaborative partners to help attract, develop, and retain physician leaders.
The CMO serves as a liaison between SSHCO and our sponsored providers while driving commitment to SSHCO’s goals of addressing healthcare inequities, enhanced patient care quality, and awareness of social determinants of health.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

- Provide clinical leadership to internal and external partners and community constituents to support mission-based initiatives related to the SSHCO Healthy Community model.
- Active member of the Provider Operations Advisory Committee, playing an integral role in the development and execution of provider operations and pipeline strategies.
- Drive physician engagement amongst subsidized providers, SSHCO partner organizations and throughout the community.
- Serve as an additional resource to subsidized providers and collaborative partners by providing education and training, mentorship, and expertise around health care transformation.
- Member of the SSHCO executive leadership team supporting the CEO, clinical and overall operations, Board of Directors and other related areas of the organization.
- Represent the SSHCO throughout the community.
- Performs other duties as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : N / A
TRAVEL REQUIRED : Local travel to healthcare organizations safety net hospitals, health systems and Federally Qualified Health Centers on the South Side of Chicago may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Doctor of medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree (or equivalent) required.
- Current IL state license as a MD or DO without restrictions, limitations, or sanctions from government programs required.
- 10+ years of experience in a clinical role with 3+ years of proven work experience as a Chief Medical Officer or similar role / experience required.
- Familiarity with the healthcare needs and cultures in the communities we service.
- Strategic thinking with ability to drive results.
- Robust organizational, collaboration and verbal / written communication skillset.
- Cultural competency and empathetic mindset.
