Job Summary : Identify and correct security risks and safety hazards to provide a secure and safe environment for patients, employees and visitors.

Conduct patrols of hospital and grounds, affiliated practices, and departments outside of the hospital and take appropriate actions to help prevent fire, theft, accidents, visitor confusion, disturbances or other undesirable conditions.

Respond to calls for assistance from employees, patients, visitors and physicians and provide appropriate assistance promptly.

Respond to other calls for service as directed by the supervisor. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Anticipate customers’ needs and respond appropriately.

Use excellent customer service skills. Utilize de-escalation skills in aggressive situations. Appropriately use resources.

Maintain accurate records for report writing, patient valuables, and morgue duties.

Qualifications : Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent required. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Internal Candidates) All requirements of PSO II must be met before moving to PSO III. Must have one-year continuous experience with CaroMont Health Public Safety.

Must complete NC PPSB Unarmed and Armed Security Officer Training, to include firearms training, with a minimum score of 80% on all written and field evaluations.

Have demonstrated the ability to think and work effectively under stress to deal tactfully with patients, visitors, and hospital employees in diverse situations.

Possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to properly prepare reports related to assigned duties in a timely manner.

Understand end-user operation of security systems and technology to include Basic PC skills. Show the ability to take charge and provide leadership to staff during emergency situations.

Must complete IAHSS Advanced Certification within 12 months. (External Candidates)In lieu of one-year continuous experience with CaroMont Health Public Safety, applicants would be considered with 5 consecutive prior years as a sworn law enforcement officer, armed hospital security experience, or relevant armed officer experience, having left that employment while in good standing.

Must complete CPI, BLS, IAHSS Basic & Advanced Certifications within 180 days of hire. Also, within 180 days of hire, must complete NC PPSB Unarmed and Armed Security Officer Training, to include firearms training, with minimum score of 80% on all written and field evaluations.
