Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Critical Care – Visalia, CA

Sound Physicians
Visalia, CA, USA
Full-time

To our prospective teammates,

I’m the medical director for Kaweah Health located in Visalia, CA. I have been a part of Sound Medical Group for 5 year(s) and part of the practice at Kaweah for a little over a year.

I’m proud of the Critical Care practice we have built and welcome interest from Critical Care NP’s and PA’s desiring a career change to explore an opportunity with our group.

I’d like to share more about it, specifically about our people, practice, and purpose , as you consider options :

People

  • We are a closely knit, established team of 10 physicians and soon enough, 2 Advanced Practice Providers
  • Our team is involved with numerous work groups including practice guidelines, code blue committee, and ICU celebration of life committee.
  • Several physicians live in Fresno / Clovis and commute. We also have team members who commute from Los Angeles.
  • Our location is the gateway to the Sierra Mountain Range. We are about an hour from Kings Canyon, Yosemite, and Sierra National Forrest.

Year-round Mediterranean climate with access to excellent hiking and outdoor activities. Overall low cost of living and exceptional schools makes for an excellent place to call home.

Practice

  • Kaweah is a 600-bed level III trauma center and a stroke center with 310 inpatient beds. We provide care in a 21 bed MICU, 20 bed CVICU, and 42 bed ICCU.
  • At night an APP will cover the ICCU with tele-ICU physician support. An Intensivist will cover the MICU and CVICU overnight.
  • The ICCU is an extension of the MICU this in opportunity to practice at the top of your license as a critical care NP / PA.

We have insulin drips, low-dose pressors, BiPAP, trach, and vented patients. APP has support via Tele-ICU MD, but will work independently, performing ICU procedures (central lines, arterial lines, and intubations).

One year of ICU experience is desired although we are open to Hospitalist NP / PA’s who have experience with ICU procedures.

  • Salary range working 15 nights per month is $263,520. Salary will vary depending on critical care experience and shift commitment.
  • We offer relocation assistance and commencement bonus.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.

Purpose

  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We’re a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
