Primary Job Duties
- Organize, track, build, and maintain case files.
- Prepare standard Judicial Council forms, pleadings, declarations, trial briefs and binders, exhibit binders, reports, correspondence, and spreadsheets.
- Maintain contact with opposing parties, counsel, and clients.
- Prepare and respond to discovery, which includes demand for the production of documents, interrogatories, requests for admissions, and subpoenas.
- Maintain a calendar to track deadlines in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure, Family Law Codes, and the Rules of Court.
- Schedule client appointments, monitor calendars, and keep attorneys and clients informed of scheduled court dates.
- Assist attorneys with hearing and trial preparation.
- Perform miscellaneous job duties related to the position including potential new client intake, answering phones, and collections as needed.
Education / Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of family law experience is preferable.
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices.
- Must possess critical thinking skills, planning, and organizing skills.
- Strong communication skills and writing skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficient in Word Perfect, Microsoft Office, Essential Forms, Google Calendar, and knowledge of TimeSolv is preferable.
- Ability to handle multiple cases and job duties effectively and efficiently.
